Bearing this fact in
mind and likewise looking to the opinion which the Governor has already recorded
in his Minute in bouncil dated on the 22nd of last month, that the Stonorable
the Major General is entitled to a
Residence at the Public Expense both
as Commanding
the Land Forces in
China and as Sien! Governor of Hongkong,
His Excettency recommends that Commissary General Coffin should be instructed to debit
and recredit the Pient allowance
of Rupees 600 monthly above adverted to, that the Honciable the Major General should pay - as proposed by him in his
letter under reply - the further sunn of Rupees 200-per Mensem in part of the Rent of M. Sanes House (until Public Quarters
can be built) and that the balance of the Kent namely Kupecs 100. should be disbursed from the bivil Kreasury pending the pleasure of Her Majesty's Government for whose
information and Commands this arrangement (caused by the peculiar circumstances of this Colony) will be submitted by the
Mail that is to leave on
